Hydrogenious LOHC to Provide Green Hydrogen from Sweden to Germany

by | Oct 13, 2022

Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies GmbH plans to use its liquid organic jydrogen carriers to transport up to 8,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum from Sweden to Germany and the Netherlands by 2026.

The German company is partnering with Dutch tank storage company Royal Vopak and the Get H2 initiative on the industrial-scale hydrogen import as part of the Northern Green Cane Project.

The project will be realised by storing green hydrogen in Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (carrier material benzyl toluene) in Sweden with a 24-tonnes-hydrogen-per-day hydrogenation plant from Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies. The LOHC loaded with hydrogen will be transported from Sweden to the Netherlands via approximately 40 shiploads.

In Sweden, half of the hydrogen will be supplied to industrial off-takers in the port and the hinterland region.

The other half will be delivered to Lingen, Germany where it will be supplied to the local industry and pipeline as part of the Get H2 initiative.
